Relocation
One Visit and You'll Know You've Found Home.
Congratulations! If you're moving to the Southern Maryland area or considering it, you've found some great communities to call home.
A World Away
Discover
a place where there are still places to discover.... Take a trip that's
just a short drive from Washington, D.C., Baltimore or Annapolis to
Calvert County, Maryland. Here you will find a place where time really
does move just a little more slowly. A Bayfront park featuring
swimming, fishing, picnicking, and seasonal, monthly and daily camping.
The perfect getaway to spend the day exploring the beach, swimming in
the Bay (nettle nets provided), fishing for your dinner or picnicking
in the shade. Spend the night at a Bayfront campsite and your getaway
can last all weekend - or all week!
Welcome to Calvert County
Calvert
County, located 30 miles southeast of Washington, D.C., is bounded on
the east by the scenic Chesapeake bay and on the west by the Patuxent
River. The Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River offer some of the most
attractive boating costs on the Bay! Over twenty marinas offer an array
of out- standing, cost-effective services and the County's hidden
creeks provide a perfect environment for kayaking, canoeing or water
skiing. After a day of maritime activities, savor a sunset meal in one
of our unique coastal towns. Visit and experience why Calvert County is
truly the "Charm of the Chesapeake." One of Calvert's greatest
attributes is the availability of outdoor activities. Calvert's ten
county-operated parks offer a variety of amenities including: picnic
areas, playgrounds, campgrounds, golf courses, tennis courts, baseball
and multi-purpose sports fields, basketball courts, public beaches,
boat launches, hiking and biking and walking/jogging paths.
Plenty of Opportunities
Anne
Arundel County continues to attract business and new residents because
of its central location between Baltimore and Washington, its superior
transportation networks, and the natural beauty and recreational
opportunities its 527 miles of shoreline offer. The population of Anne
Arundel County is projected to grow throughout the twenty-first century
from 427,239 in 1990 to 540,000 in 2050.

The marina area in Baltimore Harbor is fun place for families.

Culture and So Much More
Known
as the sailing capital of America, you are never far from water or
boats in Annapolis or anywhere in Anne Arundel County. Catch the spirit
and take a guided tour of the City Harbor or sign aboard a sailing
schooner to explore some of the Chesapeake. If on the water is where
you really want to be, take a day trip to St. Michaels on the Eastern
Shore or charter your own boat and explore some of our 418 miles of
shoreline. If you prefer to just view the water, enjoy a walk along the
waterfront. Sample our famous crabs, then listen to our music and enjoy
our sunsets and seascapes.
See the Shore
Plan
to stay a few days in one of our many picturesque bed & breakfasts
or, for the more seafaring, stay in a Boat & Breakfast and wake to
the sound of the Bay. Comfortable and affordable hotels can easily be
found throughout the city as well. Sleep in, order room service and
take advantage of the hospitality you’ll find at any Annapolis and Anne
Arundel County accommodation. May Day brings a special charm all its
own to Annapolis with flower baskets colorfully decorating the doors of
homes and businesses. Take a guided walking tour of the Historic
District and the Naval Academy or enjoy one of our historic homes where
our colonial roots really shine. And for those of you who like to dig
up the past, visit Historic London Town and Gardens where
archaeologists unearth hidden historic treasures everyday. You may even
be able to help!

With so much seafood to try, you'll always be able to find a great restaurant any day of the week.

A Hidden Treasure
Take
in productions from the Ballet Theater of Maryland, the Annapolis
Opera, and the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. Or head to the waterfront
or park with a picnic basket and blanket and enjoy one of many musical
groups. For the creative arts, take in a showing at one of the many
local public and private galleries. St. John’s College displays both
classic and modern works of art in the Mitchell Gallery. A variety of
galleries can be found throughout downtown Annapolis. Many feature art
of the Chesapeake Bay. At Historic London Town, archaeologists are
uncovering history everyday as they excavate the remains of the
colonial town of London. You may even be able to help – but if you’re
lucky enough to find an artifact, you have to leave it. After all, it’s
our history!
